Manager's Moment by TEC Manager Steve Foshee Posted on: April 18, 2002 by: Web Staff Hello, I'm Steve Foshee, General Manager of Tombigbee Electrical Cooperative. For more than three years, your cooperative has been working on many different avenues of economic development. The recent announcement of Nyundai's intentions to build its plant in Montogomery further emphasizes the need for all of us to continue our work to bring in jobs such as those to Northwest Alabama. Of course, we are very happy for Montgomery and the State of Alabama. But it seems to me that Northwest Alabama is prime ground for plants to locate here. Much progress has been made in our area toward that end. Local communities are working closely together and our elected officials are joining together and are leading the charge. Two outstanding organizations have formed to spearhead the recruitment of industry to the area. The CDF of Marion County and the West Central Partnership of Alabama representing Lamar, Fayette, and Pickens counties. I sense there are great opportunities awaiting all of us if we continue to work hard, and work together. Finally, this month, I'd like to close my comments by welcoming Alan Harper, our new Executive Director of the West Central Alabama Partnership. He is most recently from Tuscaloosa with their economic development authority. Alan is very knowledgeable, and is an excellent worker with very good contacts. I predict that Alan is going to help Lamar, Fayette, and Pickens counties with job prospects and will bring about change in a very meaningful way over time.
