Senator Bedford, is serving his sixth term in the Senate. Born on July 7, 1956, he received his education at the University of Alabama, and his law degree from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University.

Representative Thigpen was elected in 1998 and is serving his third term in the Alabama House of Representatives. His district includes all of Fayette and Lamar counties and part of Tuscaloosa County. He was born on December 2, 1940. Originally from Greenville, he received his B.S. from Troy State University in 1964 while attending school on a basketball scholarship. Upon moving to Fayette in 1969, Representative Thigpen was a successful businessman for 36 years. Responsible for creating a number of jobs in the Fayette area, he was named Man of the Year for Fayette in 1995.
